Introduction

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) is historically the oldest and largest faculty at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) and in Cambodia. It is a cornerstone institution dedicated to exploring the complexities of human society, culture, behavior, and history.

Since its inception in 1960, the FSSH has adopted a multi-disciplinary approach to social studies and research. It plays a crucial role in developing socially responsible, technically competent, and critically thinking professionals who can contribute to both government and private sectors in Cambodia and the wider region.

Vision

The FSSH aspires to become Cambodia's premier college for teaching, community research, and services in the social sciences and humanities.

Mission

The faculty is committed to renovating and strengthening RUPP's reputation by fulfilling the following core missions (aligned with the broader University's mandate):

Capacity Building: To build the knowledge, skills, values, and behaviors of all students, equipping them with specialized skills, entrepreneurship, creativity, and intercultural communication abilities.
Research & Development: To increase research and development in the social sciences and humanities, and become a leading provider of high-quality research and consulting.
Service: To provide valuable community services and support the national development agenda.

Goals

The central goal of the FSSH is to produce transformative educators and leaders in governmental, civil society, and private sectors. This is achieved by:

Cultivating Critical Thinkers: Developing in students the philosophical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and ethical values necessary for reflective, transformative, and responsible global citizenship.
Addressing Societal Problems: Strengthening students' ability to recognize and cultivate the skills to find appropriate means for solving complex problems in human life and society.
Professional Development: Ensuring high professional career development for graduates in their chosen fields.
