General Information

Introduction

Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) was established in 2004 for the purpose of training and enhancing Human Resource Development to ensure the highly competent and qualified human resources and to continue strengthening and expanding mutual understanding and cooperation between Cambodia and Japan through the three main activities: Business Training Courses, Japanese Language for Career Development Courses, and Information & Exchange Program.

Courses and Activities

Business Training Courses
There are 3 key concepts for all training courses at CJCC: (1) To provide Japanese-style management and knowledge/experience suitable for Cambodia; (2) To focus on the real world by offering more practical courses; and (3) To encourage specifically young entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The lectures are delivered mainly by experienced Japanese lecturers dispatched by JICA from Japan. In addition, Cambodian lecturers are also invited to present Cambodian business perspectives. To respond to the job market demand, CJCC has designed a range of business training courses that fit to different customer groups as depicted in the following diagram.

Entrepreneurship Course

This course package is mainly designed for those who intend to become entrepreneurs and are planning to start up a business. It provides entrepreneurial skills, knowledge, and know-how necessary to devise a business idea and to formulate a business plan. The course covers:

a) Business Idea Creation
b) Business Plan Creation
c) Preparation of Business Plan
Basic J-Business Short Course

The course provides participants with fundamental knowledge and understanding of basic Japanese manner and business management in order for them to work smoothly with Japanese companies and to harmoniously interact with Japanese businesspeople.

Corporate Management Course

The main purpose of the course is to provide practical skills, knowledge, and know-how as well as to improve business management capabilities of young business owners to reach a higher level. Moreover, it enables them to convert conventional family business to sound and systematic management. Participants are able to freely choose to explore either only the preferred individual course topics or all the seven subjects as a package.

Special Business Short Course

There are demands that CJCC organizes special courses to provide an opportunity for individuals to expand their knowledge and skills to meet the employment market. To fulfill these needs, Special Business Short Course is offered, covering diverse topics:

Advanced Course for CEOs and Directors

CJCC offers a special training course for CEOs and Directors, in particular, of entrepreneurial firms. The course is focusing mainly on a practical aspect. Participants are able to freely choose to explore either only the preferred individual course topic(s) or all the four subjects as a package. The course is conducted on Saturday (morning and afternoon) and Sunday (morning). The speakers are experienced Japanese lecturers dispatched by JICA from Japan.

Business Study Tour

The study tour offers participants opportunity to gain practical experience and knowledge in running a business from businesspeople in other countries. Participants have opportunities not only for experiencing manufacturing processes and business management concepts but also for networking and building relationship, through a business matching event, with local entrepreneurs during and after the tour. The destination countries include Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Management Mentoring and Consultation

This is an additional business-supporting service. CJCC offers Management Mentoring and Consultation service in order to provide managerial consultation to companies to review and streamline their management issues. The consultations are offered by Japanese consultants, dispatched by JICA from Japan, with many years of experience in business consultancy.

Business seminar

This Business Seminar provides participants an opportunity to grasp contemporary information on various technology and business-related areas. Speakers are experienced Cambodian and Japanese professional businesspeople.

Japanese Language for Career Development

Japanese Language for Career Development (JCD) activities is responding to ministry of education youth and sports strategic plan in creating human resource sector, contributing to reduce poverty, and supplying the need of learning Japanese language in Cambodia. JCD provides high quality Japanese language in order to fulfill market demand. JCD achievements are providing confidence and qualify education to students by offering Japanese language from beginning until graduation. JCD becomes a well-known Japanese language provider in Cambodia with support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Three main levels of Japanese language were offered by JCD. First level is elementary. This level includes Japanese Language for everyone (1),(2),(3), and (4). Second level is Intermediate which combines Japanese language Pre-intermediate, Intermediate I, and Intermediate II. Third level is special Japanese language. This level focuses on Japanese language for Business, Basic Japanese Conversation, Preparation for Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), and Japanese Language for Departure.

Assessment

Students' academic performance is assessed into three main categories. A good score in one category cannot compensate a poor or failed academic performance in another category.

Courses Description

Elementary Course

Elementary Course provides basic Japanese language to students. Students are able to take part in every day conversation, read and write simple sentences. This level includes around 500 Kanji and 1500 words. This course is separated into four levels; therefore, students can enroll the level that suits with their ability by taking entrance examination. New courses starts in every six months at the beginning of March and September, and application is processed two months before new course starts.

Intermediate Course

This course provides ability to students to higher level of Japanese grammar, conversation, reading, and writing. This course includes around 800 Kanji and 3000 words. This course includes three main levels, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate I, and Intermediate II. Each level takes six months. Students have to take entrance examination for desired level. New courses starts in every six months at the beginning of March and September, and application is processed two months before new courses starts.

Special Courses

Special courses provide opportunity to companies, public and private sectors or institutions that want to build capacity in using or speaking Japanese language. Some special courses were conducted such as Japanese language for business, Japanese language conversation, and Japanese for JLPT preparation. Japanese for business focuses on company, or public and private sector staffs who have intermediate Japanese ability, and want to be successful and out-standing in business communication with colleagues and customers.

Basic Japanese conversation class is conducted for the public who want to understand everyday Japanese conversation. Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) preparation is conducted with an attempt to strengthen candidates' ability to prepare for successful JLPT examination. Japanese Language for Departure is for institutions or public and private sector staff who want to be ready for preparing before departing to Japan. This class is conducted by upon request in particular time and events.

Information & Exchange Program

Information and Culture Exchange Program aims to strengthen and expand the mutual understanding and relationship between Cambodia and Japan by conducting cultural classes and events, sharing and advertising information of CJCC, and providing services like recruitment service and library services to the public.

Exchange Program fosters cultural exchange by conducting various kind of activities such as:

  • 1. Khmer and Japanese traditional event display (New Year Day, Water Festival, Pchum Ben Day, Moon Festival, Doll Festival, etc.)
  • 2. Japanese seasonal event celebration (Tanabata, etc.)
  • 3. Khmer & Japanese flower arrangement class
  • 4. Khmer & Japanese cooking class
  • 5. Khmer & Japanese culture related program (Origami/Kirigami, Poem Workshop, etc.)
  • 6. Special events (Bon Odori, Drum Concert, Friendship Concert, Japanese Song Contest. Etc)
  • 7. Special events promoting human resource sector such as Study-in-Japan Fair, MEXT Scholarship (Scholarship programs supported by Ministry of Education in Japan, etc)
  • 8. Honda YES Award Program

Information Resource Center

Information Resource Center aims to provide information of CJCC and recruitment service to Japanese Companies. Currently, we have launched a recruitment services by inviting students or anyone who are interested in working with Japanese companies to submit the application form to CJCC. We also offer a job fair which Japanese companies and students can meet and discuss about employment in the company.

Moreover, we have library which contains numerous books related to business, economy, education, culture & language, magazines, newspapers in different languages (Khmer, Japanese & English). You can find other services in our library such as internet services, audio visual booth, internet booth, self-study booth and so on.

We also launch a Japanese movie show one a month for the public with free admission.
